1. Gaius’ selfless generosity
1 The elder to the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth. 2 Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul. 3 For I rejoiced greatly when the brothers came and testified to your truth, as indeed you are walking in the truth. 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. 5 Beloved, it is a faithful thing you do in all your efforts for these brothers, strangers as they are, 6 who testified to your love before the church. 2. Diotrephes’ pride and divisiveness

The Assurances of God's Children Part 2

1 John 5:18-21

1. The assurance of power over sin
18 We know that everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning, but he who was born of God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him. 1 John 5:18 (ESV)

The Assurances of God's Children Part 1

1 John 5:13-17

1. The assurance of eternal life

2. The assurance in praying God’s will

3. The assurance in praying for a sinning brother

4. The witness of the Father

The Marks of a Healthy Child: 1 John 5:1-5

1. The mark of faith
1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him . . .5 Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:1;5 (ESV)

2. The mark of love

3. The mark of obedience

4. The mark of victory

The Power of Love: 1 John 4:13-21

1. The Connection of Love in the Spirit
13 By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. 2. The Confidence of Love for the future

1. The Source of Love

2. Are You Confessing the True Jesus?

3. Are You Trusting in the Greater Spirit?
